Like many authors before me, I have always loved reading. I was beside myself the very first time I read A Wrinkle in Time. Meg was shy, awkward and the first person I could really relate to, minus the mind control situation. From that moment on I was constantly looking for stories that I could relate to or characters that were going through similar situations that could help me learn.
Fast forward many years later, I found myself reading less. I would go to the bookstore with high hopes of coming back with a large stack to add to my TBR pile, but I would come home empty handed (gasp!). I couldn't read one more book about a lovely woman who inherited a beach house from a deceased aunt. I couldn't relate to any books being published, the storylines and tropes were very far from my life as a woman in the world of technology.
At first, I turned to biographies and memoirs to help, but there are very few women executives books. I quickly went through the few available. I desperately needed something more.
I am an executive in a Fortune 50 company with over twenty years of experience trying to navigate the complex and ever evolving technology landscape while also raising two strong daughters, and if there is time I try to be a semi-decent wife.
I started writing with hopes of connection to others who are going through similar struggles or maybe offer some inspiration to the new generations of working women behind me so they feel less alone or, more importantly, joyfully inspired. I have seen up close the critical role that women play in our teams, companies, and communities.
We need more women to recognize their strength, talent, and ambition to make the world a better place.
Let's rise and build this community together 👑
